The Byre is a 1 bedroom barn conversion on a working Shropshire farm. The cottage retains many of the barns original features and offers home comforts in this truly rural escape.
The Byre, which adjoins The Rickyard, another holiday cottage, takes pride of place in the farm’s courtyard, where a small seating area to the front allows guests to relax and enjoy the dominant views of The Wrekin (hill).
Inside, the spacious entrance with feature brick wall lead to the living area. The spacious open plan kitchen and dining area lead to a wonderfully cosy yet grand looking lounge with it’s high vaulted ceiling and original timber beams. There’s a comfortable leather sofa and footrest and a flatscreen TV with Freeview for your entertainment. We are also able to provide free Wi-Fi during your stay. A charming fireplace with timber mantlepiece frame the electric log effect fire – perfect for instant warmth on a chilly evening.
Form the dining area you can enjoy views across the farmyard to the Stretton Hills in the distance. The kitchen comes complete with everything you’d need to enjoy your holiday.
The bedroom features a comfortable double bed with wrought iron frame and looks out to your small, leafy and private seating area to the rear of the cottage. The shower room comes complete with shower, basin and WC.
Location
The holiday cottages at Morrells Wood Farm are dotted in and around the farmyard and sit at the end of a single track road, just over a mile from the quaint village of Leighton. The Kynnersley Arms in Leighton serves bar and evening meals. Alternatively, The Hunstman Inn, slightly more restaurant in style, is just a short 5 minute drive in the opposite direction at Little Wenlock.
The Wrekin is one of the most popular hills in Shropshire and from it’s summit it’s said that 17 counties can be seen. On clear days, you can see the mountains of Snowdonia. The Wrekin can be reached on foot via a permissive and delightful path right from your cottage door.
This is where the Shropshire Hills AONB begin and they stretch south and west for mile after mile. They offer hill walkers of all abilities a variety of great country walking, all year round. Ironbridge, with it’s museums, visitor attractions, pubs and restaurants is about 4 miles from Leighton and thus within easy reach.
