The Weston Park Foundation have giving this very special property a new lease of life, offering the finest in holiday accommodation standards, yet still respecting The Temple’s heritage.
The Temple is a masterpiece of the 18th century architect James Paine whose work can also be seen at Chatsworth and Alnwick Castle and was built for Sir Henry Bridgeman who inherited Weston in 1764. The Temple of Diana retains many intriguing and original features for the benefit of its guests including a three-bay glazed Orangery (previously used for the cultivation of exotic plants) boasts a spectacular views over the parkland with the Shropshire hills beyond. The circular Tea Room, where the lady of the house would take tea and the Octagonal Music Room where the family would gather for recitals are also particular features of The Temple that have been retained. Nestled in Temple Wood, the Temple was integral to ‘Capability’ Brown’s plans, looking out onto the main house and across the parkland.
