The Barn at Much Wenlock is a delightful two bedroom cottage located in a quiet hidden corner of this quaint medieval town. Formerly an old coaching inn and part of the Raven Hotel complex, the cottage is less than two minutes’ walk from all Much Wenlock’s inns, restaurants and shops.
The original oak beams of the coaching inn retain a sense of history in an otherwise modern and tastefully furnished holiday cottage suitable for couples and families alike.
Whilst the whole cottage benefits from central heating, the spacious lounge also boasts a gas ’coal-effect’ hole-in-the-wall fire, for a traditional feel with modern day convenience. There is a Freeview TV with DVD player and a selection of DVD’s too for evenings in, whilst a number of local guidebooks that are provided will assist your planning for the days ahead.
From both the lounge and separate dining room, French doors lead directly to a secure, walled garden with outdoor furniture and lawn – the perfect place for children to play in safety. A well-equipped, fitted farmhouse-style kitchen is complete with everything you’d need for a self catering holiday which includes an oven with four ring hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher.
Upstairs you’ll find two spacious bedrooms, both with sloping beamed ceilings. The master bedroom is complete with fitted wardrobe, 2 chest of drawers and a king size bed. The twin bedroom also has plenty of storage with its own wardrobe and drawers plus two single beds.
The cottage benefits from having two bath and shower rooms. The main bathroom comes complete with a modern bathroom suite consisting of full sized bath, basin and WC. The shower room also has an addition WC with electric shower and sink basin. Both rooms have spot lighting with a ‘hands free’ LED illuminated vanity mirror.

Much Wenlock and the Surrounding Area
The thriving High Street of Much Wenlock with numerous independent shops is within just 200 yards of the cottage. Much Wenlock boasts a variety of pubs, tea rooms and restaurants.
The small medieval town of Much Wenlock, home of the original Olympic Games, is very well situated to visit Ironbridge and its museums (just 5 miles away). Shrewsbury’s historic town centre is within 10 miles too and easily reached by car or public transport.
There are walking trails from the property and many more with a short drive. These include The Stretton Hills, The Long Mynd and The Wrekin. Wenlock Edge (which can be reached on foot from your doorstep) is also home to a number of fossils that can be seen in the rock along the trail. More information is provided in the guidebooks at the cottage.
Additional Guest Information
Please note that property has undesignated road side parking. A place cannot be guaranteed but it is most unusual not to be able to find a space in this quiet part of Much Wenlock. However, should this occur, a pay and display car park is no more than a 20 second walk away.
Please note that short breaks are from Friday – Monday (3 nights) and Monday to Friday (4 nights).
We’re sorry, but we are unable to accept pets at The Barn.
