Beautifully rustic and luxuriously furnished – The Barn offers a tranquil escape in rural surroundings on a family run Shropshire farm. Add to that a view that profiles many of Shropshire’s best loved hills and you’ll soon realise that ‘The Barn’ truly is a gem of a retreat. The Barn has recently been awarded a 4 Star Gold award by Visit Britain.
A former cattle shed, The Barn was faithfully and lovingly converted in the summer of 2015 and built from locally sourced Shropshire oak, timber and reclaimed bricks. It provides spacious accommodation for up to four adults, with all the comforts you could wish for from a superbly well appointed, modern holiday cottage.
For cooler evenings, a log burning stove, with wood supplied, brings additional warmth to an already cosy property that also features underfloor heating. The leather suite is positioned so that the views from the windows can be savoured and a flatscreen TV is provided if you manage to avert your eyes from those far reaching views. We are also able to provide free Wi-Fi during your stay.
The open plan kitchen boasts modern appliances that glisten in the light that streams through your windows throughout the day, providing a naturally light environment for preparing a family meal. The dining area is framed somewhat by a feature arch of reclaimed brick. Throughout the living area, ornamental light fittings, hand built in Shropshire, add extra finesse to an already sumptuous decor.
There are two bedrooms, both set with fine furnishings and quality linen. The master bedroom boasts a four-poster iron framed bed that catches the view out west. An additional wall mounted TV is provided for lazy mornings..or early nights. There is also plenty of wardrobe storage, cupboards and a full length free standing mirror. The twin bedroom is also blessed with plenty of storage and space between the two beds.
The shower room is spacious and light, thanks primarily to a natural skylight above but further boosted by sleek spot lights. An illuminated vanity mirror and heated towel rail compliment the modern washing facilities providing a little extra home comfort.
A real feature of The Barn are its twin patios. The front patio is south facing, catching all the warmth of the daytime sun. The side patio, with access direct from the lounge, catches the evening sun and features a brick built barbecue which we highly recommend you use for a little al-fresco dining in complete privacy. Enjoy a glass of wine as you try to identify each of the Shropshire Hills that lay out before you. From the highest peak of Brown Clee Hill, the pretty Strettons, the outdoor enthusiasts Long Mynd to the nearby ‘Wrekin’ looming above the trees, many famous peaks are visible. But for a nearby pylon and a few bales of hay, the view is untouched by man – a panoramic masterpiece of Shropshire’s glorious countryside.
